Stavros Vakalis, a graduate student of the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering, was selected for the prestigious recognition “IEEE MTT-S Tom Brazil Graduate Fellowship” with US$1,000 extra travel grant. Congratulations!
Stavros Vakalis’ research work includes millimeter-wave imaging and sensing. Current millimeter-wave imaging systems have inefficiencies including very high cost and slow scanning speed. Stavros’ research aims to overcome both of these limitations by using commercial and low-cost hardware to build millimeter-wave systems that can operate at very high frame rates.
Stavros is a PhD student at the Electrical Engineering department under the supervision of Dr. Jeffrey Nanzer.
The MTT-S Tom Brazil Graduate Fellowship award is a special distinctions among the MTT-S graduate fellows, which have been already announced.
