Photo MasonAndrew Mason (Professor of Electrical and Computer Engineering), has been awarded a five year, $2.75M R01 grant from the NIH National Institute for Environmental Health Sciences titled “Wearable Microsystem for Continuous Personalized Aerosol Exposure Assessment.” Dr. Mason and his team of researchers from Oakland University and University of Michigan will develop key technologies enabling a continuous, real-time, wearable system to monitor airborne particulate matter (PM) in the fight against air pollution exposure that is attributed to 1 in 9 deaths worldwide. In the long term, the discoveries of this project will contribute to improved policies, regulation and intervention strategies to manage exposures and improve health as well as a wearable device for real-time, personalized, health management.
