Shaunak D. Bopardikar, an assistant professor of electrical and computer engineering, received a 2021 US Air Force Research Laboratory Summer Faculty Fellowship. Congratulations!
The U.S. Air Force Research Lab Summer Faculty Fellowship Program (https://afsffp.sysplus.com/) offers hands-on exposure to Air Force research challenges through 8- to 12-week research residencies at participating Air Force research facilities for full-time science, mathematics, and engineering faculty at U.S. colleges and universities.
The award winning project is titled: Autonomous Guarding of Multiple Assets Against Mobile Intruders. The project investigated design and analysis of new algorithms for multiple vehicles to intercept adversarially generated mobile targets before they reached specified regions. These problems find applications in surveilling highways, protecting military assets against intruders, as well as in guarding crops against swarms of predators such as locusts.
